Doubt's Deceptive Echo

When the voice of self-doubt shouts, here's how to drown it out.

Ever start planning your next business move only to have a barrage of reasons why you can't? Almost like the Star Wars intro, but less cinematic and more... annoying.

But let’s be honest. There's this lure of doing the easy stuff. Boosts the ego, makes us feel all superhero-ish. Minus the itchy latex and cape. (Don’t ask).

Truth bomb: Six years back, I got the genius idea to launch a business. And you know what? Every time I was on the brink of a sale or success, self-doubt swooped in.

My biggest enemy wasn't competition. It was the voice in my head, trying to blend in with the 90% that fail, rather than standing tall in the 10% that win.

Maybe that’s not your exact story. But I bet you know that little voice that whispers, "Can't do it," drowning out the fainter one that chants, "Yes, you can." Ah, meet self-doubt.

So, instead of a ‘top 10 ways to beat doubt’ thread, here’s something you won't find in a self-help book:

Doubt is comforting and you can’t permanently get rid of it.

Sometimes, it’s way easier to doubt than to believe in ourselves. Doubt is a familiar prison. Believing? That’s risky business. Hope becomes scary when coupled with the possibility of failing.

So why listen to me, right?

Next time Self-Doubt Steve starts rambling, ground it. Ask: “Is this pessimistic voice basing itself on real evidence?”

No proof? Shut Steve up and push forward.

If Steve pulls up past blunders, let's have a chat about Daniel Kahneman. This Nobel Prize-winning dude highlighted biases in decision-making. One key takeaway? We often judge our abilities based on a tiny sample size. We try a few things, they don’t work, and boom! We brand it as our 'reality'.

But here's the thing, each attempt is a step, not just to pat yourself on the back, but because every effort inches you closer to that goal. And when you're face-to-face with reality, stripping you of lame excuses.

Where am I now? Celebrating my first coaching client. Why? Because every time I faced doubt, I chose to keep pushing. And so should you.

Give it a shot. Challenge doubt and redefine your reality.

Catch you later,
