When 'Trust Issues’ are with yourself.

If I’m honest, trust didn't come easy to me — especially when it came to trusting myself.

We will chant, ’trust the process,’ but trust yourself? When you have a history of disappointing yourself, it comes with doubts.

Here’s the deal: Starting a business is no joke. The journey is nothing like what you mapped out in your head. So your mind becomes a battle ground.

So I build trust with small bets on myself.

Last week, if X was nice, you might have seen I tossed my business plans out the window. So I’m doubling down on testing strategies from more advanced players.

But, and this is a huge but, I’m super skeptical about whose strategies I try. I’ve watched people who achieved success selling strategies that didn’t show the whole truth.

It’s crazy. If you follow their blueprint and find yourself staring at a failure. And who do you blame? Yourself. Sadly, this isn’t uncommon. And thank god it’s not everyone.

So here are the people and strategies I’m testing:

What it looks like:

  • Topher: Secure who I exist for and test content to see if I attract them.

  • Brian: When I run, I look one step in front instead of the never-ending road.

  • Justin Welsh: Put his quote into action. “Here’s the success I’ve had by doing X, and here’s what I learned, how you can learn it too, and how it can impact your business"

What I’m learning, is when you funnel your attention on repeatable, small, and semi-mundane basics instead of big moments, it gets easier to keep promises to yourself.

Pick three things. Just three. Break them down into actionable tasks. Practice till it works or repeatedly flops. If it doesn’t work, discard it and make small adjustments till it does.

Personally, I’m using Jakob Greenfelds methods for personal learning.

Point is, if you want to trust yourself start small so when hard days come (and they will) you have proof you can do it.
